And how do I know this? Because it happened to me!
I was in a business partnership that was putting food on the table and money in the bank but starving my soul. The faster we grew and more assets we acquired, the further I got from my core values, my interests and passions. I had neglected my art, wasn’t sleeping and was exercising excessively to run off the stress. I was depleted and resentful. My body screamed the message and I was forced to stop and listen. I’d become seriously ill putting all my energy into someone else’s dream. I was making a great living but it was costing me my health.
I was fortunate in that a key employee was thrilled to take over the business, debts as well as assets, and while that meant giving up the income, it probably saved my sanity, my marriage and my life. I was able to take everything I’d learned from the experience and start a new business that fed my soul AND provided a nice income. It was a hard lesson for me but I realized that no matter how successful you are, if you aren’t happy, if what you are doing isn’t in alignment with your purpose, you have no energy to enjoy that success.
Isn’t it time you put the “life” back in YOUR “livelihood” and created your ideal “career” that allows you to live your “soul” purpose.
For many of us it takes a crises, illness, separation or loss of a loved one to shake us up and remind us that time is passing and we’d better get busy living.
